Thinking outside the Box

We don’t always know what’s good for us. How many times have you plotted and schemed, only to have your plans completely thrown into disarray at the last moment? Or through convincing and cajoling on the part of others (or changing your mind on your own) you have come to see that there may be a better solution than the one you’ve spent all your energy on?

I talk a lot about letting life become an adventure in order to let the changes flow in the way they are meant to. Thinking outside the box is part of this process. Speculation gets us nowhere and precision planning often fails. We can’t always know the bigger picture or specific outcomes along the way because there are so many players involved in change. That’s why life has to be an adventure.

Thinking outside the box demands that we lose the fear. We can plot, scheme and imagine until the sun goes down, but in the end all steps should feel like an adventure on their own as part of the greater change we are intending for our life. Remaining flexible must be at the top of the “to do” list. When we think outside the box, great opportunities come to us. It feels freeing, exciting and certainly adds spice to our life when we welcome the unexpected. For brief moments we may feel exhilarated thinking about all the new possibilities! And nothing is ever wasted. One thing always leads to another as we choose certain actions as part of this process.

We all know that everything is constantly changing. None of us can escape transforming our life in some way (though admittedly some people transform in bigger ways and more often than others). There is no right or wrong. There is only living truthfully in alignment with our authentic needs and desires. We deny ourselves a huge opportunity for growth and enlightenment by not allowing the changes we earn for to occur. It’s much easier to go for them when we release the expectation we have for certain outcomes. Now, this is not rocket science in the world of manifesting. However, I know exactly how hard it is to make life changes when the status quo feels safe or we simply don’t know what we want.

Trust that when optimism and excitement about the future fuels your attitude and you feel anything is possible your dreams will start to kick in. Everybody has a dream of one sort or another, even if this is to live peacefully by a trickling stream, propped in a lawn chair reading all day. Like a puzzle, the dream is shaped into the whole one piece at a time. Unlike a puzzle, where only certain pieces can fit together to make the picture complete, when living with heart-felt intention, life becomes a canvas; where brush stroke after brush stroke the picture or your dreams can come alive. Just like a painter, there has to be the intention of filling a canvas with the vision. When your strokes (goals) are applied with courage, a sense of adventure and even a little awe (think Pollock), only then can you see every creation become the life masterpiece it was meant to be.
