The Beast in the Closet

Okay, there it is, rearing its ugly head again. That niggling thought, belief, fear and uncertainty about what we’re supposed to do, where we’re supposed to go, what’s going to happen “if” and on and on. Right now I am treading into a new area with my work that feels a bit uncomfortable; putting myself out there meeting people at book signings, spreading the word, forging new paths, facing possible rejection. Not everyone “gets” what I do. There are people who do not want to read about death, pain, struggle or even healing. Grief is not the easiest of conversations for many. Even I, at times, am not sure how to describe my messages in few and simple words with “strangers” I meet at brief encounters.

As a result, sometimes I feel intimidated by what lay before me and it feels safer and easier to run from it all. When I get into this frame of mind, the angels bring me a beautiful message or experience. I gain one more reader or client. My energy soars for an instant, which is enough to propel me onward.  But that beast in the closet lurks closely, challenging my resolve, energy and vision and I have to dig deep to persevere.

If you feel like this too at times with whatever you are managing in your life (and quite frankly I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t), it’s worth examining what’s in your closet. You do this by sorting through every thought related to that one fear, doubt and limiting belief you have that feels invalidating and intimidating, and replace it with a thought that is empowering, validating and you know to be truthful about what you are doing and where you are headed, even if you’re not there yet. The trick is recognizing your limiting beliefs. Sometimes we convince ourselves so powerfully of beliefs that just aren’t true, it is difficult to steer ourselves back to center; to that place of truth, grace and humbleness we always find in Spirit.

There is ever only, an imagined beast in the closet. It is true we can think of the ego as one that must be regularly conquered and tamed, but mere knowledge of the ego’s existence is half the battle won. The angels will always arm you with courage, wisdom and truth the moment you ask for help with any challenge or difficulty. By deciding to face your biggest fears and worries head-on, you will see that you are far more powerful than what you could ever potentially allow a limiting imagination to become.
