Holding the Vision

I’m sure most of you would agree that it is really difficult to hold the vision for our dreams to “come true”. Vision is an outcome in the other "world" that has yet to unfold. While we are “waiting”, it can be challenging at best to stay true to the dream, and continue to believe that everything we are creating in our mind will actually materialize, especially when nothing is happening. In Divine Healing, I talk extensively about the manifestation process for those of us that have to reach really deep after struggle to find the strength and vision to just go on, never mind build dreams. In this context and in the end, it comes down to remaining grateful for what we can do on a daily basis, trusting our heart and taking things one step at a time, amidst plenty of self-nurturing and rewards for our accomplishments.

Recently, my publisher called to check in with me. We agreed that by all appearances, it’s a long and arduous road to not only getting a book published, but to build momentum for the book’s message once it’s out there. Bestsellers are rarely, if ever, produced overnight by an unknown author. A lot of authors give up and don’t take the necessary steps after publishing to generate the success they would like to see for their work. It requires the author to shift from being writer to business person. Like everything else in life, nothing ever just drops into our laps. There’s a formula that must be followed to make the transition from writer to professional author that requires effort, patience and vision. My publisher said I was taking all the right steps (I’m following the formula). As an independent publisher by choice, he knows what he’s talking about, having survived in the book business for many years.

I am willing to take the seemingly long and arduous road before me because I believe in my vision, no matter what’s happening in the physical. I don’t really believe in struggle or hard work. I do believe in the importance of knowing what we want to claim it, and recognizing the opportunities along the way that help us get where we are going. Like anyone else, I sometimes feel great frustration when things don’t turn out as quickly as I think they should, or even as I thought they would. I am learning to continually acknowledge the progress I have made and hold tight to every success I enjoy, which I know will lead to bigger ones. I trust what I am doing. The ease with which many things have come to me on this path indicates that my plan will play out exactly as it’s meant to, with help from the Divine of course. It is not necessary for me to stray from the path, though I must remain flexible.

With regard to your own vision, and if you are feeling challenged some days, here are a few tips to help:

1.When something doesn’t feel right, let it go. Plans and dates can be changed (this is different from procrastination). You can revisit ideas that aren’t working today.

2. Hold the vision, no matter what. Your heart will tell you if what you want is in sync with your purpose. If it is, keep going. If not, re-think what you want and why.

3.Listen to what others have to say, but do not become influenced by their ideas. Yours are what count. Know the difference between professional advice and opinions. The Divine will guide you.

4.When you achieve one level of success, set new and manageable goals. Don’t make them too big to achieve. Remember, all things lead to something else.

5.Congratulate yourself on your accomplishments! This is a great motivator to keep going.

My heart to yours,
